Palma de Mallorca has been the playground of the rich and famous for decades
Palma is a beautiful historic city with impressive port and beach. Famous sites include Palma Cathedral, ancient Arab Baths, Bellver Castle, the celebration of Spanish architecture at Pueblo Espanyol and modern art gallery Es Balluard.
SHOPPING: there is a huge selection of boutique and designer shops across the city centre. Wander round the network of cobbled streets of Las Ramblas or stroll down the impressive tree lined shopping avenues of Juame III and Borne. There is also a designer outlet mall on the outskirts of the city - Festival Park - and the shopping/ entertainment centre at Porto Pi including restaurants, cinema (including English films) and ten pin bowling.
ENTERTAINMENT: Palma is renound for its abundance of quality bars and restaurants, including Michellin star rated eateries. A good standard of meal is also offered by many traditional local cafes, and every lunchtime look out for the Menu de la Dia for a bargain.
Palma's lively nightlife includes many famous clubs such as Titos, Abraxus and the King Kamehameha Club which are situated on the waterfront, with chill out zones overlooking the bay of Palma.
SPORT: watersports are popular along the beaches of Mallorca, including yachting, kayaking and windsurfing. The mountainous region in the centre of the island also attracts many walkers and cyclists. There are many outlets offering bicycle and moped hire.
Palma is also home to the La Liga football team Real Mallorca, hosting the best of Europe's football teams in its city stadium. The impressive building of Plaza Torres (bull ring) occasionally still hosts traditional bull fighting but its now more likley to host live music events and sports shows such as X-games.
